Lately I have been looking into getting a Murphy bed. That way we could use our bedroom as my crafting area also. At the moment we have a beautiful cherry stained queen size sleigh bed. I love it but there isn't much else we can put in our room much less walk around. To save space in our room I have put the head of the bed in our closet just so we can move around it. That in turn gave us the problem of having no closet space so then I ended up getting a temporary closet. It would be a lot better if we could use the closet and have our bed tucked out of the way during the day. If all my crafting things were in the bedroom then our living room would seem bigger. To simplify all that....a Murphy bed would solve a lot of space issues in our apartment. Commonsense
My husband and I, and our cat live in a small one bedroom apartment. When I was working full time at the bakery I didn't spend much time at home so I never noticed all the things I would change. Like for insistence we have a bath, I love baths but when a short person like myself can't fit in the tub its pretty useless. If there was a shower stall then the bathroom would seem a lot bigger and would make more sense. Also there was no framing or baseboards in the whole apartment that's like having a picture on your wall without a frame. We promptly put those in and I'm hoping to get some crown moulding one day. Then the kitchen (if you can call it a kitchen) is so small and it doesn't make any sense at all. When we moved in it had dark wood cabinets which might sounds nice but they weren't stained (in the proper sense). The first thing I did was paint them with a cream oil paint that way the room looks bigger and the wood is sealed. There is so much I want to do and now that I'm home I will have a chance to do them all. Though I don't think my landlady will want me to take the tub out so I will hold myself back from doing that one.

Stampin Tags
In my last post I was saying how the silkscreening tags weren't working. I thought I would go in a different direction by making stamps. On one of my favourite blogs Tiny Happy she Stamped Linen which looks beautiful. Heres a link to the stamp carving tutorial.
I think it worked ok but I think the font might be a little to big and the black seems a little extreme I might give it a try again with brown or dark grey ink.

Baking Sock Monkey
I have been baking for a couple of years now and I just gave it up to sew full time. It lasted four days before they phoned me to come back in :( Though I wasn't asked to come back full time it kinda messed up me trying to set up my new future. I have one more day and they then have to give me a couple of days notice before they call me in. They did ask me to make a sock monkey for the seasonal display though and I am almost done but I will give you a sneak preview.
This week all I accomplished was two sock monkeys plus a new pattern for the baking sock monkey and I have been trying to silk screen tags for my products. My sister in-law has a Yudo and we tried to burn the image into the screen but it wasn't taking so when I'm not baking I will try to figure it out.

For daily updates you can follow my page on facebook at The Handmade Chronicles. Most of the time I will be blogging on here. I am just finishing off my last week of my job and then I will be able to focus all my attention to my sewing yipee! There is going to be some major organizing to do but I am going to try to make new product and get organized, thats the plan anyways. As for right now I am so tired from these long days of training people I can't wait to wake up when normal people do not 1 or 3 in the morning.

Almost a year!
If there is still anyone out there who used to read my blog I'm finally back. For the last year I have been working and working and working. I sadly haven't been able to sew a lot I have made the odd sock-monkey but I haven't had that much time to do much more. I have started a facebook page for The Handmade Chronicles and I have been working on new stuffed animal patterns. As for my reasons for being away well below is the good news of my future and the bad news of why I have been away.
The good new is that I'm quitting my regular job so I can focus all my time on my sewing career. I have been a baker for about two years and its has been fun and lots of hard work but the hours are crazy and I was missing out on being with my husband, family and friends. When he started working more we started thinking about maybe me working less or taking a little brake to give this sewing thing a try.
Now for the bad news...I hate talking about things like this but we haden't been doing that great financially. Now we are doing better but the credits still getting payed off. I have been wanted to comeback to blog for sometime but I didn't have room on the good ol credit card for the blog. I love Typepad I have tried other blogs but I was never comfortable with the look and feel of them. Like I said Typepad is great so I am back.
There will be tons more news and product on its way!
